Each year, we celebrate #BumpDay, a day dedicated to raising awareness about maternal health needs around the world.

#BumpDay is a movement for social good that shines a light on the crucial issue of maternal health, and raises funds that immediately save lives.

#BumpDay is a joint project between What to Expect and International Medical Corps aimed at raising awareness and life-saving donations to benefit maternal health when and where it’s needed most.

According to the World Health Organization, approximately 830 women die every day as a result of pregnancy-related causes. And 99% of all maternal deaths occur in developing countries.

For every woman who dies, 20 to 30 encounter injuries, infections or disabilities.

Most complications from pregnancy and childbirth could be prevented or managed if women had access to a skilled birth attendant. But one in five births worldwide happen without that assistance.

With access to prenatal care in pregnancy, skilled care during childbirth, and care and support in the weeks after childbirth, most maternal deaths are preventable.

Millions of mothers globally still do not have access to proper prenatal care, which can be the difference between life and death.

Posting a pregnancy bump photo on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter on #BumpDay help raise awareness for healthy and safe pregnancies for all moms, everywhere.

Posting a baby bump pic is one way to support better care for moms and babies.

Please consider donating to International Medical Corps, which provides care, supplies and training to communities that need it the most.

The worldwide maternal mortality rate dropped by 44 percent between 1990 and 2015. We CAN make a difference!

International Medical Corps considers women’s and children’s health a key priority for healthy communities.

For us and for our partners, every day is #BumpDay.
